Afrihelps is committed to fostering a safe, transparent, and culturally supportive environment for Consumers seeking services within the African and diaspora community. This Bill of Rights does not replace the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, or Consumer Safety Notice — it supplements them by clearly stating the rights Consumers have when using the Marketplace.
1. Your right to accurate information
You have the right to:
- Access truthful, accurate, and up-to-date information about Service Providers
- View Provider profiles that reflect real identities
- Expect Providers to represent their qualifications, experience, and services honestly
2. Your right to safety and respect
You have the right to:
- Interact with Providers who communicate respectfully
- Be free from harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or abusive behaviour
- Report unsafe or inappropriate conduct to Afrihelps
- Have Afrihelps review and act on reports of misconduct
3. Your right to transparent payment options
You have the right to:
- Choose whether to pay Providers through Afrihelps (via Stripe) or directly
- Understand the difference between platform-processed payments and off-platform payments
- Receive clear information about refund and cancellation policies for Stripe-processed payments
- Know that off-platform payments are private transactions not governed by Afrihelps
4. Your right to clear refund and cancellation policies
You have the right to:
- Request refunds for Stripe-processed payments
- Receive clear communication from Providers regarding refund and cancellation policies
- Have approved refunds processed through Stripe
- Cancel services according to the Provider’s stated policies
5. Your right to make informed decisions
You have the right to:
- Evaluate Providers independently
- Request licences, certifications, references, or proof of qualifications
- Ask questions before agreeing to services
- Decline services at any time before payment or engagement
6. Your right to privacy and data protection
You have the right to:
- Have your personal information handled according to the Afrihelps Privacy Policy
- Know what information Afrihelps collects and how it is used
- Request updates or corrections to your personal information
- Opt out of certain communications
7. Your right to report concerns
You have the right to:
- Report fraud, misrepresentation, harassment, or unsafe behaviour
- Have Afrihelps review your report and take appropriate action
- Request removal of inaccurate or harmful content related to your experience
8. Your right to platform transparency
You have the right to:
- Be notified of major changes to Afrihelps policies
- Understand how identity verification works
- Know that Afrihelps does not currently conduct background checks
- Receive advance notice if background checks or additional verification procedures are introduced
9. Your right to fair treatment
You have the right to:
- Equal access to Providers regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or background
- Fair and respectful treatment from Providers
- Protection from discriminatory or unethical behaviour
10. Your right to discontinue use
You have the right to:
- Stop using the Marketplace at any time
- Delete your account
- Decline further communication from Providers
- Choose alternative service options outside Afrihelps
11. Limitations of rights
While Afrihelps is committed to Consumer safety and transparency, Consumers acknowledge that:
- Providers operate independently
- Afrihelps does not supervise or control Provider actions
- Afrihelps does not guarantee service quality or outcomes
- Consumers engage Providers at their own risk
- Off-platform payments are not governed by Afrihelps policies
